Provides legal advice to attorneys and paralegals in the District Attorney’s office. Representation of the supervisory board and the district authorities in legal advice and representation in legal disputes before federal and regional courts as well as administrative authorities. Further tasks are:

  • Drafts, types, amendments, proofreading and files of time-sensitive legal documents and briefs.
  • Writes and / or prepares routine correspondence and documents for attorney’s review and signature.
  • Organizes and prepares process and assignment files.
  • Uses federal and state court electronic case tracking systems and district attorney databases to research, close, and archive files.
  • Coordinates and plans conferences and meetings.
  • Extensive contact with employees of the district authority, external advisors, advisors and other people.
  • Collects, reviews, organizes, analyzes, and edits under the supervision of attorneys, records requested under VFOIA, subpoenas, or discovery requests using various software applications such as logic null.
  • Performs other assigned administrative tasks to facilitate the functions and operations of a law firm.
  • Answers calls for prime agency line; scans email and acts as an agency courier driving to and from the Fairfax County Courts to file and retrieve legal documents.

Physical presence in the office is required due to the nature of the position and responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training that corresponds to the high school diploma and three years of experience and offers administrative support in the assigned functional areas.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience in a legal environment. Proven experience and understanding of the legal system. Excellent communication skills.

REQUIRED SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks are performed in an often stressful and fast-paced office environment. Tasks require the ability to enter, enter, and retrieve data from a PC for up to seven hours a day.
