Entry Prepared Challenges the State of Maryland’s Intentions on Election Accessibility

Access Ready’s board of directors has identified inaccessible information technology as a clear, growing, and present threat to the civil, economic, and social well-being of people with disabilities.

This advocacy challenge arose when the SBE launched a call for proposals for a new survey system for use in Maryland Elections. Then, in the opinion of the Community partners, the state rejected the proposal of the only accessible voting book system for the organizations to test and contribute to. According to the organizations and their legal advisers, the refusal was based on minor formalities.
