Angel City Sports – the organization behind the Angel City Games, presented by The Hartford, the largest virtual multisport customization competition in the United States – offers a range of virtual acting workshops for those with physical or visual impairments interested in acting. The eight-week series begins October 8 and runs Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. PST.

The course

The course is divided into three sections: scene work from contemporary TV shows and films, advertising and hosting.

Each student is given the opportunity to find their stand and thrive by taking up essential rules and doing hands-on exercises in each area. The goal is to have fun expressing what we are made of through the art of action. The course is free and is aimed at people with physical disabilities between 11 and 18 years old. The course is taught by JB Waterman, a longtime Angel City supporter and volunteer who has taught Gary Spatz ‘The Playground drama at the prestigious Los Angeles Conservatory for several years. In addition to teaching, Waterman worked for 15 years as a professional actor in advertising, film, theater, voice-over and as a presenter. He is also a lecturer at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, telling the audience about their Planetarium Star Shows.

“We are honored that JB, a professional acting coach, is creating this class for us. Our virtual acting workshop enables participants to tap into their creative side and learn skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives,” said Clayton Naughty. Angel City Sports founder.

Waterman added, “Sport has always been an important part of my life and I really appreciate the work Angel City is doing to bring equitable access to athletics. With this acting class, I can combine two of my passions, teenagers and acting classes Youth work with Angel City athletes. “

Angel City Sports was officially launched in 2015 and aims to improve the lives of children, adults and veterans with physical disabilities through its sports program as well as through its new Beyond Sport initiative, which includes workshops and seminars in the fields of arts, Health and health includes wellness, education, career development, and personal development.

Angel City Sports provides free, adaptive sports clinics, equipment, and competition opportunities for children, adults, and veterans with physical or visual impairments year round.

Participants include people with limb differences and amputations, spinal cord injuries, quadriplegia, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, blindness or visual impairment, traumatic brain injury, stroke, muscular dystrophy, and dwarfism or short stature.

Ultimately, Angel City Sports works to create a community and a sense of belonging for people with physical disabilities and to help them reach their full potential and achieve their dreams through programs in the fields of sports, arts, health and wellness, higher education, and career opportunities and personal development.
