“In the meantime, Telangana and Puducherry are providing 3,000 rupees per month for the disabled in these states, although we are not asking for help where other states are at least providing the money to buy medicines. Expenses have already increased where the monthly aid is insufficient, ”he added.

The disabled are not given a universal disability card that should be used for all purposes. But the state government still has to take care of disabled people.

“Universal disability cards were issued in 2015, but so far only 15 percent have been issued across the state. Now we have to wait in line to buy train, bus and even employment tickets, but if this card is provided to disabled people, it can be used for all purposes. They also ensured that people with disabilities got 100 days of work in rural areas, which was also not met, ”said B Jansirani, president of the Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of Differently Disabled and Caregivers.
