INDOT to host public hearings on I 80/94 hall

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will host two public briefings and one virtual session:

  • Wednesday, July 28th at 5:00 p.m. at 21st Century Charter School, 556 Washington St., Gary
  • Thursday, July 29th, from 5 p.m. on the Purdue Northwest Campus, Alumni Hall, Student Union Library Building, Room 360, 2233 173rd St., Hammond
  • Tuesday, August 3, starting at 6:00 p.m. via WebEx; please register here in advance: https://bit.ly/3w2rRTb

For every face-to-face meeting, the doors open at 5:00 p.m. a presentation will take place at 6 p.m. Displays and representatives are available before and after the presentation. The same information is presented in all sessions.

The purpose of the briefings is to provide an opportunity for all interested parties to comment on Corridor I-80 / I-94 between Illinois 394 in Cook County, Illinois and I-65 in Lake County, Ind., System Management Operations (TSMO) strategies are being considered, including temporary use of hard shoulders, variable speed limits and ramp metering. The project is in the planning phase and is being developed as part of the Planning and Environment Linkages (PEL) process. Detailed environmental studies would be carried out during the preliminary design as the project progresses.
