Instructions to host digital run/stroll/trip to mark ADA anniversary | Cattaraugus County

OLEAN – Directions in Independent Living will honor the historic passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act with a virtual 3.1 mile run / walk / drive from July 26th through August. 2.

The virtual event celebrates the additional civil and social freedoms people with disabilities received with the adoption of the ADA 31 years ago.

Since freedom of expression in both art and athletics is a symbol of this historical legislation, Directions organized a competition for art by artists with disabilities on the occasion of the event.

The award-winning artwork was created by Little Valley’s Brianna Campbell, who participated in the services offered by Directions. Your design will be used on the event’s official poster.

The Lauf / Walk / Ride invites everyone in the Southern Tier and beyond to take part in the event virtually on Facebook with photos and videos of their participation. The recommended donation per person or group is $ 10.

Everyone is welcome to sign up, purchase a t-shirt and submit a photo showing participation, which will be posted on Facebook by Directions during this week.

Participants are encouraged to run / walk / drive 5.1 miles to commemorate the passing of the ADA.
