The Marble Bar, a live music venue near Detroit’s New Center that has indoor and outdoor stages and bars, said that a vaccination record or negative COVID-19 test would be obtained within 48 hours of being admitted Friday is required because the delta variant was causing an increase in cases.

“We apologize for any inconvenience”, it says in a Facebook post, “but the safety of our employees and guests is our top priority.

“… As an organization that aims to bring people closer together, we see it as our duty to limit the transmission and spread of COVID-19 in any way we can so the party can go on.”

The Marble Bar, which is open from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Friday through Saturday, appears to be the first bar in the Detroit area to that requires vaccination or a negative COVID test. Comments on an Instagram post have been disabled, but more than 900 mostly positive comments have been added to the Facebook post.

The vaccination card or a negative COVID test can be presented at the door. Physical evidence or a picture on a phone is accepted. The user’s name must be visible and must match the name on the state-issued ID.
