Middle for Incapacity-Inclusive Group Growth Launches Second Season of Keys to Monetary Inclusion Podcast Sequence

WASHINGTON, May 20, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Today, the National Disability Institute (NDI) -managed Center for Disabled Community Development (CDICD) launched the second season of its Keys to Financial Inclusion podcast series. The podcasts feature interviews with leading voices from the disability, community development and financial communities who share their insights on what inclusive community development means and how to respond to the needs of low and middle income people (LMI), including people with disabilities .

“Living communities are best supported when economic opportunities include low-income and low-income populations, including people with disabilities,” said Michael Roush, director of the Center for Disabled Community Development. “The Keys to Financial Inclusion podcast series is an opportunity for thought leaders in the disability, community development, and financial communities sectors to share insights, analysis, and new strategies to improve and increase investment, credit, and service activities for people with disabilities.”

The first of six podcasts will be released on May 20, 2021. One is published on the third Thursday of each consecutive month and ends on October 21, 2021. Podcast guests, in order of appearance, include:

  • May 20 – Rodney Hood, board member and past chairman of the National Credit Union Administration
  • June 17 – Rebecca Cokley, Disability Rights Program Officer, Ford Foundation President’s Office
  • July 15 – Lael Brainard, Governor, Federal Reserve Board of Governors
  • August 19 – Marjorie Baldwin, writer and professor, Arizona State University
  • September 16 – Karen Tamley, President and CEO of Access Living – Chicago
  • October 21 – Aimee Wehmeier, President, Paraquad – St. Louis

The Center for Disabled Community Development (CDICD) works to raise awareness that people with disabilities are part of all communities and works to ensure that the needs of the disabled community are incorporated into community development activities.

Launched in 2019, the center focuses on the importance of inclusive activities for community development. This includes enhancing closer collaboration between financial, community development and disability communities to respond to current financial and economic challenges, and paying attention to positive examples of investments, loans and services of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) that drive the financial Resilience of LMI employees support those with disabilities and their families. Over the next year, the Centre’s work will continue to focus on improving the financial health and wellbeing of LMI people with disabilities and their families by raising awareness of developing accessible communities and using the opportunities and resources available through the rating agency is sharpened.
