UGC Invitations Functions For Nationwide Fellowship For Individuals With Disabilities

Bhubaneswar: The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Thursday, on behalf of the Department for Empowerment of People with Disabilities (DEPwD), Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, accepted applications from suitable candidates for the National Fellowship for People with Disabilities (NFPwD) for the Selection year submitted 2020-21.

The last date for online applications is January 17, 2021.

A scholarship is available under this program for students with disabilities covered by the Disabled Persons (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act 1995. Thus, a person with a disability who benefits from the law must obtain a certificate of disability from the medical authority registered for this purpose.

There are 200 slots with a reservation of 15% for planned boxes and 7.5% for planned trunks. The selection is based exclusively on the percentage of grades that the applicants received after examining the applications during their examination after completing their studies (PG) among the applicants whose applications are received online on the UGC portal provided for this purpose.

After the selection process, UGC will issue a list of the names of the previously selected candidates. They can only join the scholarship after verifying the facts / information they provided in their online applications. Candidates who join the scholarship are not eligible for any other financial benefit from central or state government or any other agency such as UGC for pursuing M.Phil / Ph.D.

Eligibility: Any student with disabilities who has been admitted to the M.Phil / Ph.D. degree and conducts research in regular and full-time mode at a university or academic institution by completing the necessary formalities for admission to that university or academic institution, is eligible for the scholarship.

The program includes all universities / institutions recognized by the UGC / Government of India. Employees of a university / college / educational institution / central / state / UT government are excluded from claiming the scholarship, even if they are on study leave or extraordinary leave (EOL) to attend the MPhil / Ph.D. course complete.

The scholarship is payable for a maximum of 05 years. It begins on April 1st, 2020 or the actual date of admission / registration of the candidate for M.Phil./Ph.D., Whichever is later.
