Responsibilities:
The employee is responsible for determining the applicant’s eligibility for Food and Nutrition Services, Crisis Intervention Program, Low Income Energy Assistance Program, Emergency Aid, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, and Child Care, including admission, processing and review. The employee should have good judgment, scheduling and decision-making skills. The work includes personal customer contact and / or telephone contact.
Tasks include interviewing a client and / or family member to obtain necessary information for an application, redefinition and changes in the client’s situation. Contact persons and various organizations to verify the information received on the application and / or recertification form. The representative conducts and completes the reviews in accordance with the guidelines by gathering all necessary information, evaluating the program policies and procedures to determine eligibility, entering all the information into the computer, and notifying customers of the status of their eligibility.
This employee must be efficient and have excellent organizational skills to maintain a current and ever changing / increasing case load.
Qualifications:
• Associate degree from an accredited program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum;
• Or graduation from high school and two years of work experience in the field of paraprofessional, commercial or other public contacts, negotiating, interviews, explaining information, collecting and compiling data, analyzing data and / or performing mathematical or legal tasks with at. included at least one year of experience in an income maintenance program;
• or graduation from high school and three years of part-time, clerical or other public contact;
• For level II, one year of experience as a clerk for income maintenance is required; all others are hired at level I with the corresponding salary level.
