₹5,476-crore package deal to assist weaker part in Maharashtra: Thackeray

While imposing severe restrictions in the state to break the coronavirus chain, Prime Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced an aid package from Tuesday £5,476 crore to relieve the economically weaker sections.

These strict restrictions will apply in the state from Wednesday, April 14, 2021, 8 p.m. to May 1, 2021, and there will be a full curfew during this period.

Only the necessary services will continue.

“Due to the need to reduce the number of patients, strict restrictions are being put in place in the state. However, it was during this period that it was decided to provide food and financial aid to the economically weaker sections,” the CM said today, adding this financial aid will granted to the economically weaker population groups below the poverty line. Families, women, seniors, widows, the disabled, disorganized citizens, workers, rickshaw drivers, and tribal communities.

To this end, beneficiaries receive financial support from the Department of Food, Civil Care and Consumer Protection, the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance, the Department of Industry, Energy, and Labor, the Department of Urban Development, and the Department of Tribal Development.

Some of them are:

Free grains for one month

Food Security Beneficiaries Under the free food system, around 7 state crore beneficiaries receive free food grains such as 3 kg of wheat and 2 kg of rice per person per month.

Shivbhojan plate free

One month Shivbhojan Thali is provided free of charge to the needy by Shivbhojan Yojana in the state. It is planned to give around two lakh plates.

Financial support for recipients of pension schemes

About 35 lakh beneficiaries of Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana, Shravanbal and the centrally funded Indira Gandhi national old age pension system, Indira Gandhi national widow pension system, Indira Gandhi national disability pension system, £10.00 will be given.

Grants to construction workers

As part of the Registered Construction Workers Welfare Scheme, funds from the Maharashtra Building and Other Workers Welfare Board were awarded a grant of £That being said, a huge fund of various welfare benefits was set aside for 25 lakh domestic workers in the state in 1500.

Financial support for peddlers

About five lakh merchants in the state receive financial support of fifteen hundred rupees each. This amount is credited directly to the merchant’s bank account. Twelve lakh rickshaw pullers in the state also receive financial support from £1,500 each.

Support for tribal families

Approximately 12 Lakh tribal families who benefit from the Tribal Development Department’s Khawati program receive financial support from £2,000 per family.

Erection of the plant on Covid

Other than that, a provision of around Rs. 3,300 crore has been allocated for the administration of the lock-up period at the district level. From this, the funds will be given to the affected districts for medical treatment, equipment, building facilities and other covid arrangements.

Apart from that, taxes, fees and other levies owed by local corporations, state governments and other government agencies may be paid interest-free for the two months of April and May.
