Panaji: The state government adopted the exit policy for beneficiaries in need under Prime Minister Rojgar Yojana (CMRY) or Dr. Verghese Kurein Rojgar Yojana (VKRY) extended for the second time until the end of September.
The program formulated in 2015 was extended in February of this year to the end of March. “The government is pleased to extend the exit policy of the program for distressed beneficiaries under CMRY VKRY until September 30,” said Finance Secretary Pranab Bhat.
The exit policy gives CMRY and VKRY beneficiaries who have suffered a disability or lost their life the option to close the loan account. In some cases, on the recommendation of the EDC Task Force Committee, it offers a waiver of outstanding contributions.
EDC Ltd has been assisting entrepreneurs through the CMRY program since 2001, and while the repayment rate is still over 90%, in some cases borrowers and entrepreneurs have been unable to terminate their loan due to factors beyond their control, such as death, disability, natural disasters, serious illness or adverse market conditions.
