The Irving Community Center in Ada and the Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative (OHAI) Southeast Center for Healthy Aging work together to deliver the Healthy Brain, Healthy Mind Program (HBHM).
Classes begin on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. at the Irving Community Center at 530 W 5th St. in Ada and continue on August 18, 23, and 25.
Developed in the Department of Geriatrics at the University of Oklahoma, HBHM is designed to help people understand the many different ways to maintain a healthy brain that leads to good mental health. Participants are given tools to set goals and achieve success, engage in healthy activities, spot signs of stress and depression, achieve success vs. “coping”, deal with “blues” and stress, and much more.
Courses are offered free of charge. The course is sponsored by the Oklahoma Dementia Care Network.
Instructors are provided by OHAI, a Reynolds Section of Geriatrics program, in the medical school of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. OHAI serves all individuals who are eligible for its programs, regardless of race, national origin, ancestry, skin color, religion, gender, age or disability.
