Monroe County’s Public Library provides local residents with reading, learning, networking, and creating opportunities. The main library is located on E. Kirkwood Ave. 303 and the Ellettsville branch at 600 W. Temperance St. All events are free. The program is financed by the Friends of the Library.

Minecraft for tweens

Miniature painting 101

Learn more about painting miniatures. Register at mcpl.info/calendar to pick up a take-and-make kit with the fully assembled miniature, brushes, paints and instructions, and then join the live discord session on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. 6:30 p.m. part! For 13-19 years.

There is an anniversary celebration

Take part in this drop-in celebration to mark the 31st anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Together with the Council for Community Accessibility, Stone Belt, Indiana Institute on Disability and Community, and local chapters of the American Council of the Blind and the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the library hosts fun activities for all ages to share and understand insights how disability affects so many of us. Take part in activities and receive a free cookie! Every age. It is Saturday at 10 noon in the main library square in Kirkwood, with rain spots in meeting rooms 1B and 1C.

Bloomington Community Band in the library

Join the Bloomington Community Band in the main library parking lot on Sixth Street for an open air concert! Bring your dinner and a chair and enjoy great music from local musicians. Every age. It’s Saturday 7pm to 8pm.

Book Club: ‘Ring Shout’

Everyone is cordially invited to take part in the book discussion – or just listen. This month’s book is “Ring Shout” by Fr. Djeli Clark, a dark historical fantasy novel of a sniper and a Harlem Hellfighter against a supernatural Ku Klux Klan. From 21 years. It’s Sunday at 2:00 p.m. on Zoom. Zoom into the storytime

CD scratch art for teens

Learn how to turn old CDs into colorful works of art. They meet outside in the main library square in Kirkwood (by the bears). Bottled water is provided. Age 12-19. It’s Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Come round.
