Pedestrian and Accessibility improvements completed

ATASCADERO – Last month, Traffic Way in Atascadero received improvements for pedestrians and accessibility, including new sidewalks, curb ramps, and tree fountains between the US 101 crossing and El Camino Real.

The new sidewalks match the current downtown aesthetic, including decorative paving stones along the curb. To increase traffic at the intersection of Traffic Way and El Camino Real, a designated left-turn lane has also been installed to provide additional capacity for drivers passing through this widespread intersection.

The improvements are part of the city’s ongoing efforts to increase pedestrian and cyclist access to the city center. The project was funded by the state’s Community Development Block Grant Program, which focuses on removing barriers to pedestrian use and improving accessibility under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Get through together, Atascadero

Starting next summer, Traffic Way and Ardilla Avenue will receive additional road repairs, drainage improvements, road markings and traffic signs.
