So far, the NCPD has received two offers for the development of a mobile app, as information and communication technology (ICT) has become increasingly important and necessary in the digital age.
“Access to ICT is one of the greatest compensations for people with disabilities,” said Minister Campbell. “They can become life-changing tools for people with disabilities, enabling them to participate more in various aspects of society. Disability app
The main purpose of the app is to serve as a portal through which people with disabilities and their families have access to accurate, timely and reliable information regarding disability-related services and support. The features of the app provide: One-touch access to all emergency services including:
- Text services for the deaf and hard of hearing (DHoH).
- Name and contact information of all government departments.

- Official registration form for NCPD people with disabilities.
Disability card
The digital ID card for people with disabilities is proposed in collaboration with the National Insurance Board and is based on the possibility of NIB cards containing the word “disability” on the cards of people with disabilities, similar to what is being used for “expanded” . Senior citizens. ‘Another option is to print the global symbol for’ disability ‘on the NIB card. Alternatively, the consideration is that the Commission will issue a standalone card. An additional option is a digital identity card that can be part of the mobile app or should be connected to this, but not in the initial phase of the app.
The app hopes to offer:
- Push notification for national warnings, emergency and disaster reports.
- Access to the Video Relay Service (VRS) A video telecommunications service that enables the deaf, hard of hearing to communicate through video equipment and with the hearing person in real time through a sign language interpreter.
- Access to the Visual Support Service, a video telecommunications service that enables the blind and visually impaired to receive visual support through a live video call.
NCPD
