Galway Bay fm newsroom – A project by the Center for Disability Law and Policy at NUI Galway received € 10 million in funding from a national equality fund.
The National Platform of Self Advocates is one of 11 nationally selected organizations to benefit from the Equality Fund in Ireland operated by Rethink Ireland.
The voluntary organization is run by people with intellectual disabilities to support others with intellectual abilities.
The aim is to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and to ensure that they are viewed as equal citizens within the meaning of the UN Convention on Human Rights.
Eleven organizations across the country were funded in the categories of empowering women, strengthening communities and building equality.
