Children in Action of the Children’s Center (DC)
Kids in Action is an adaptive sports and social program for children and young adults with disabilities and their siblings. All children should have the opportunity to exercise and participate in activities with others their own age. We adjust our sporting, social and health activities and focus on the goals and strengths of each child.
Kids in Action began as a way for children with disabilities to participate in structured community activities. Children with complex health needs regularly go through various health facilities, for example from a traditional hospital to therapy. Many of our families could not find social and sporting activities that their children could participate in and practice the skills they had learned through therapy services. For this reason, Kids in Action was first developed for children at the HSC Pediatric Center. Today it is open to all children in the Washington DC area. All events are supervised by licensed therapists so that everyone can participate.
Children in action at home
During this time of change, our goal is to restore the feeling of our kids in action activities for you and your family so that you can enjoy the safety of your home. Activity information is published on our social media platforms.
