The Palm Beach County School Board late Wednesday voted 6-1 for a 90-day emergency adoption that requires masks for all students. The only exceptions are those covered by the American Disabilities Act (ADA) or those with a 504 plan. According to school district officials, a 504 plan is created by a 504 team and is a temporary plan to help a student with accommodation that does not come under a disability. Interim Superintendent Michael Burke has discretion on emergency adoption but said it will begin Monday so they have time to let parents and school principals know. The only board member who opposed it was Barbara McQuinn of District 1. The board also voted on several other changes to the 90-day emergency adoption, such as: For example, asking students to keep a social distance of 3 feet. The board also voted to add symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing and sore throat to the list of symptoms students should not come to school when exhibiting.
