Grants are awarded based on availability. “This grant program is part of SourceAmerica’s commitment to serving eligible nonprofits and AbilityOne contract employees following a natural disaster,” he said Richard Belden, Interim President and CEO at SourceAmerica. “We hope we never have to offer this type of support to any of the nonprofits on our network, but the reality is that natural disasters can and do occur. SourceAmerica is ready to assist the agencies and staff they employ if our Help is needed, “he said.
More than 400 nonprofits in the SourceAmerica network are entitled to assistance should a natural disaster affect their operations. Each of these agencies provides employment opportunities for people with disabilities through the AbilityOne® program, one of the largest sources of employment for people with disabilities in the United States. In fact, nearly 40,000 people with significant disabilities nationwide are employed by the AbilityOne program across the SourceAmerica network.
Each grant application must be received no later than 90 days after a natural disaster event has ended and a state of emergency has been declared. SourceAmerica will provide funding up to $ 10,000 pro grant to eligible agencies to meet daily needs including housing, transportation and more.
With the June through November hurricane season, nonprofits are available along the Gulf Coast, East Coast and in Hawaii are constantly on the alert for the mayhem a severe storm can wreak during these months. These areas can be particularly vulnerable to several hazards. If a nonprofit is affected in this way, it can apply for more than one grant.
The total annual grant fund for non-profit organizations is $ 1,000,000.
