Abilities in Motion is proud to present its annual ADA Celebration Art Show, which celebrates the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by showcasing artists with disabilities.
Abilities in Motion will partner with the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts to host an art exhibition of works by artists with disabilities at Studio 240 July 26-31. The theme this year is disability, diversity and inclusion. The accompanying artist stories and biographies bring this exhibition to life and enable a personal encounter with the work of the artists.
This exhibition celebrates the 31st anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, which falls on July 26th, which establishes civil rights for people with disabilities and enables a more inclusive, accessible society.
Abilities in Motion conceived the annual art exhibit five years ago to mark the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act 1990 (ADA) by highlighting the culturally diverse artistic talent in our local community. This is our second year working with GoggleWorks to showcase the artwork in a professional gallery setting.
Artists with disabilities exhibit their work in a variety of media, including painting, drawing, photography, and sculpture.
From Ability in Motion Executive Director:
“We’re excited to partner with GoggleWorks again for this year’s Americans with Disabilities Act anniversary celebration. The COVID-19 pandemic has created extremely challenging times, making it all the more important to present stories of people with disabilities in their own expression of art. We like to draw attention to their creative talents and skills. We hope this exhibition is not just one
Opportunity for the community to gain a better understanding of disability, but also the importance of ADA for people with disabilities.
The exhibition will open with a meet-and-greet on Monday, July 26th, 2021, from July 10th to 12th, and will last until Friday, July 31st.
