Variety and Inclusion at NAVSEA

DIVERSITY INITIATIVES IN NAVSEA

NAVSEA has a long history of promoting diversity, inclusion and equality. We believe efforts to bridge inequality gaps are ongoing – we know more needs to be done, and NAVSEA is committed to achieving higher goals.

Among our many diversity initiatives, NAVSEA Special Emphasis programs have been established to improve employment and advancement opportunities for historically underrepresented affinity groups. Our groups include the Federal Women’s Program, the Disability Program, the Hispanic Employment Program, the Black Employment Program, the Asian American Pacific Islander Employment Program, and the American Indian Alaskan Native Employment Program.

At the local level, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are employee-led, command-sponsored initiatives that focus on removing barriers for current and future shipyard employees. ERG members take part in outreach events, training courses, employee development opportunities and much more. ERGs have been shown to be helpful for employee engagement, leadership development, and workforce diversity.

People with disabilities are an important part of the NAVSEA team. We provide shelter and support to capitalize on the talents and skills of these valuable employees. In fact, NAVSEA was recently selected as one of the federal government’s top 20 best places to work by readers of CAREERS & the disABLED Magazine.
