11th Circuit Upholds Sanctions in Unethical Payment-Sharing Settlement Between Shopper and Lawyer

The US District Court of Appeals upheld sanctions against a hearing impaired Florida man brought by a district judge as part of an “unethical fee-sharing agreement” with his attorney for frivolous disability discrimination lawsuits.

The man, Alexander Johnson, has to pay $ 6,000 and do 50 hours of community service for three years after a district court found in 2019 that Johnson filed more than two dozen federal lawsuits against gas stations in South Florida for legal fees and split it 50:50 between him and his now suspended attorney Scott Dinin.
