Mecklenburg will host the event in recognition of the 31st anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) A D.Discussion for AAccessibility: Then, Now and Next on Tuesday, July 20, 6-7.30 p.m. The community is invited to this virtual experience.
During this event, attendees will hear from National ADA Activist and Native Charlotte Johnson share his unique perspective on his life before and after the ADA’s death, the role he played in local and national advocacy, and how we are Able to do so will all work towards a fully inclusive community. Participants can ask questions before and during the event.

– Mark Johnson, Keynote Speaker and ADA Disability Activist
– Julia Sain, Executive Director of Disability Rights & Resources
– Timmothy M. Tibbs, ADA coordinator for the Mecklenburg district

Mecklenburg County and Disability Rights & Resources have teamed up to honor historic milestones in ADA legislation and to promote conversations that will raise awareness and educate our community about challenges and our solution orientation.
The county continues to work on a fully inclusive community that allows all residents to access all physical spaces and participate in the programs, services, and activities offered to residents. The County ADA Work Team, made up of representatives from all departments and partner agencies, works diligently to maintain a culture that promotes independence while improving customer loyalty.
