Fee turns down pro-lifers’ US-inspired disabled individuals’s promenade invite

The Disability Commission has declined an invitation to an event hosted by pro-life groups. The party does little to promote the rights of people with disabilities.

The Commission on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) said it had been invited to attend an event called Time to Shine Malta, co-sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, LifeNetwork Foundation Malta and St. Julian’s Parish a number of people is organized trading companies as well as the Maltese Association of the Order of Malta.

According to the commission, the event is a “window dressing exercise” without the active participation of organizations for the disabled.

“The Commission believes that this event is a window dressing to make fellow citizens feel special for one night when our joint efforts are aimed at making them feel included in society for a lifetime”, it was said.

In both the invitation and advertising material, people with disabilities are referred to as “people with special needs”.

“Nowhere does the invitation or promotional material suggest that the event will promote the rights of people with disabilities,” said the commission.

The CRPD said that as an independent mechanism that they legally trust, it “cannot possibly support this event”.

The Tim Tebow Foundation is a Christian charity run by athlete Tim Tebow, whose signature Night to Shine is a worldwide prom for people with special needs. The organization finances operations on children in the Philippines through the Tebow CURE Hospital.

Tebow is a professional soccer and baseball player who is decisively committed to life. He participated in the annual March for Life in January 2021, an annual demonstration for American life that has been held at the National Mall in January every year since Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision guaranteeing a woman’s right to abortion.

The Tim Tebow Foundation also funds anti-trafficking initiatives. Tebow personally supported the construction of the Trump Wall on the US-Mexico border. In 2020, he appeared with Ivanka Trump and US Attorney General Bill Barr to announce over $ 100 million in federal funding to combat human trafficking.
