Responsibilities:
An employee in this class performs tasks related to the care of confiscated animals. The tasks include cleaning the kennel and kennel areas, feeding and transporting animals from one enclosure to another, washing and maintaining other kennel areas in compliance with strict cleaning and disinfection protocols in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act. The employee supports the animal shelter manager with euthanasia, vaccination and deworming of the animals. The employee is trained to take over the tasks at the reception and to advise potential users if necessary. Applicants should understand that most animals in the shelter are poorly socialized with little or no training. Flexible working hours with weekend and holiday work are required. A successful applicant must be extremely compassionate, patient, and understanding with animals.

Qualifications:
• Graduated from high school or GED.
• Experience in a kennel or veterinary clinic is preferred;
• Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Valid NC driving license.
