A Connecticut disability rights group says newly announced changes to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout plan are unfair and violate federal law.
Governor Ned Lamont said this week that residents will be eligible for the vaccine primarily based on their age – with no exceptions for people with underlying health conditions.
Deborah Dorfman is with Disability Rights Connecticut. She said it is well known that people with health problems are disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
“There are many people with underlying diseases who need to get the vaccine as soon as possible. So making a decision about simplicity or convenience is not enough, ”said Dorfman.
The group filed a complaint with the US Office of Civil Rights. You said the policy is against CDC policy and the Disabled Americans Act.
A Lamont administration spokesman said an age-based rollout plan was the best way to get the vaccine out quickly and fairly.
